Rationale

For organizations in developing countries vehicle costs are a large part of their annual budget and are often the most expensive thing they buy. However, in managing vehicle costs most will admit that a lack of expertise and internal transparency leads to the uncomfortable sense of continually signing off on significant expenses they do not either understand or control.

Data shows that bringing simple but effective vehicle management to this scenario can reduce vehicle costs by about 17%, promote a higher sense of value amongst staff, improve donor confidence and perhaps most importantly project the most publicly visible aspect of your management in a better light.

About fleet-serve

Primarily aimed at NGO's, the web site now serves over 30 clients in a variety of sectors across 7 countries. The founding sense was that effective vehicle management for NGO's should not consume management resources, should be personal, in plain language, simple and affordable. Thus, for managers, fleet-serve is a monthly one page email in plain non-technical language with supporting report. An example of this can be downloaded here.

How it works

fleet-serve is a web based consultancy service. Typically a junior administrative position uploads fuel, kilometers and repair data here, taking 2 3 hours per month for larger fleets. On a monthly basis we look at your data, put it into a simple reporting format, analyze particular aspects and report to you via email.

.Getting Started

We prefer for potential clients to start on a trial basis and typically this is set at three months. To start this you simply have to email us from which we will then liaise with your vehicle administrator to issue a User Name and Pass Word. Thereafter you will be sent a link to an online tracking tool to help you monitor your implementation through the first months.

Support

fleet-serve is a service and as such we provide support and advice via email through the three phases of upgrading your vehicle management. Firstly support for the operator using the system, secondly support to management in the reporting and finally ongoing support in terms of the advice and experience we apply to your monthly reporting

Costs

Costs are typically 20.00 per vehicle registered per year.
